Nippy Brake Light Empty Nippy Brake Light

I have a 1961 Nippy that was never fitted with a Brake Light my local MOT station
is not sure if it must have one to pass MOT, has anyone had a similar experience and
could put me right on this. Regards Basil

Hello Basil.As I understand the ruling.If the bike is less than 50ccs and before a certain age it does not need a stoplamp.My Nippy is a 1961 model and has passed the last 2 tests with no comment.I may be wrong but I think the date after which stoplamps and electric horns are required is 1974.As there is no battery fitted and a there is very low output from the generator fitting a stoplamp could be a bit of a problem.Looking forward to seeing your restoration Nippy at the Mill.Paul
