Norman History
A small correction to your history of the company: Charles Norman was advertising the East Kent Plating & Enamelling in 1916, in the local papers. He was (I guess) called up in 1917 and became a fitter in the RFC, which became the RAF a few months later. He was discharged in 1919. His brother Frederick, also involved with Norman Cycles, was a pilot in the RFC and RAF in 1917/1918 (his RFC flying certificate is available on-line).
A third brother, Harold, was also involved in the company. Between the three brothers, they made quite a number of patent applications in the 30s, 40s & 50s relating to bicycle and hand-truck improvements. There was also a fourth brother, Percival, who was a music teacher, and two sisters, Eleanor and Ruby.
If anyone has any info on marriages, spouses, dates of retirement or death, I'd love to hear from you.
