Daf 55 cars transmission
Hello Ulf,good to see you back on the forum. Is your Daf the model with the belt drive transmission?I remember driving those cars when they were still new, they were not fast but very smooth to drive with no gear changing. When we had to remove the belts we used to hang with all our weight on the belt to move the pulleys apart and then wedge the pulleys open with a piece of wood.A similar system of transmission, using steel link belts was used on some small Fords but I think that it is no longer made. The Zenith Gradua motorcycle used the same idea of expanding pulleys and belts with great success just after the first World War.I must get my Norman ready for it's MOT test so I must get outside and do some work.Goodbye for now Paul
