Bicycle parts plea! Empty Bicycle parts plea!

Post  dannyc7147 Tue Jan 26, 2010 9:40 am

Hi all, I've just spent the last year restoring a 1950 roadster to its former glory and will be bringing it to the next show, but I'm missing one part that I can't track down anywhere! On the rod pull brakes, the rear one connects to a pivot spring that attaches to the frame, and it is that little bit I can't find! If anyone has one, or even better a spares bike then PLEASE let me know and we'll make a deal! Many thanks!

Bicycle parts plea! Empty springs

Hello Danny,I have rebuilt quite a few old bicycles although I never found a Norman gent's bike to rebuild. The little spring you mention was used in one form or another on many old rod braked bikes. Therefore you could look at other makes for something that could be modified to suit.I look forward to seeing your rebuild at the Mill.Paul

I just bought a scrap Hercules on ebay for 16 pounds that had the part I needed. The funny thing is that I sold the saddle on ebay for 40 so made a nice profit too! It will definately be there in may and is looking good. I also have a 1940 and 1955 ladies in the shed, the 1940 is this years project, and a 1960 gents so hopefully will be bringing two or more next year!
