hi folks im paul ,i have a norman nippy that i picked up for scrap some time in the 80s ,its been sat in the shed ever since ive finally decided that its time to get it on the road .i was going to have new rims put on the wheels as the rims are completely rusty but after having a go with a wire brush the chrome's still there and is coming up nice ,i will get the frame powder coated .the engine was seized and a mate of mine borrowed the head off it and ive never seen it again .ive got another engine for it but am thinking of completely restoring the original engine trouble is i cant part the 2 half's of it ,ill get some pics posted of the bike .something i do need some advice on is getting it registered as its on old number plates and ive got no log book for it

ive had the frame powder coated ,i m after a plastic head light surround ,the lock thing that goes on the tool box cover ,a back brake rod and a pedal crank arm

Hello Pigdog. What sort of engine do you have in your Nippy? Over the years Normans used 3 different makes of engines in the Nippy:- Villiers, Mival and Sachs. Some Sachs parts are available new but Mival bits seem to have disappeared from the face of the earth although Villiers parts are very easy to get hold of from a firm called Villiers Spares. I converted my Nippy from a Mival engine to a Villiers engine I found on 'flea bay', the mountings were slightly different and so was the exhaust so it was not a straight swap.If you have a Villiers engine then workshop manuals for this 3K engine do come up on e-bay. Transfers for the Norman name on the fuel tank are available from the Vintage Motorcycle club.
Yesterday I took my B1S,150 ccs Norman out for the first ride of the year, it had not been started since September but went on the second kick and did 25 miles without any problems, I didn't even have to pump up the tyres and although it only does about 35 to 40 mph it is a very nice ride around the lanes.
