Can anyone date my Nippy? Empty Can anyone date my Nippy?

Ive recently taken on a Nippy that is in pieces. I have tracked down the engine to Villiers and am having that sent back to me. On the frame is the number EO6969 and the registration is 326KAF. There are no documents with it and its never been on DVLA records. It has been off the road since 1971 so I would need to get all the details verified to get it put onto the system. If there is anyone out there that can help me, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks Dave.

Can anyone date my Nippy? Empty Nippy

Hello Dave. Welcome the world of Normans. There were various versions of Nippy, fitted with Sachs, Mival or Villiers engines. My Nippy is Villiers powered and I think they are the best of the bunch, but then I might be biased. The registration number should give clue to it's age, a picture would help because there were different types of rear suspension fitted during the years of manufacture. My Nippy has the frame number E10632 and was registered in 1961.I have to admit that my Nippy is a bit of a mixture as I used some of the suspension bits from different ages when I built my bike from a wreck that had been lying in a garage for 20 years. Cheers, Paul.

Thank you for your reply. This one is the deluxe version so has the pivot arm suspension. It is also the Villiers engine. Iam looking really to keep its true identification and as the registration plate was severely perished, it took a bit of guess work and holding up to the light to try and make out what the numbers and letters actually were. Obviously, due to dvla not starting their records until 5 years after it had been taken off the road, there is no validation of this. DVLA did say if I could get the owners club to sign the forms saying its a true identity, I could restore it back to its former glory. Dave.

Hello Dave.If you know the original registration number you might be able, depending upon which part of the country you are based,to get the original registration details from your local county archives office and then talk again to D.V.L.A..Not all counties offer this service but it is worth a try.If this fails you will have to go for an age related numberplate which I have on my Norman B2S motorbike because the original number was sold by the previous owner.Cheers,Paul
