Norman B4C Trials ??

Post  topline 620 on Tue May 01, 2012 1:28 pm

Due to a recent bereavement in my family I am now in posession of a Norman trials bike which I think is a B4C model. The bike was registered in June 1962 and has a Villiers 200cc engine that I think is a 9E. The bike is almost complete, the only thing missing is the exhaust silencer (the front pipe has been modified to run along the top of the right side engine casing). The bike has not been used for a very long time but has been stored in a garage so hasn't deteriorated too much. We are going to have to sell the bike to cover some of the expenses relating to my relatives death but I have no idea of the value of this type of bike or where to try to advertise or sell it. I could really do with some honest advice on how best to proceed or any other useful information that anyone could provide so would be grateful for any help. [quote]

Hello Topline. The bike you have is quite desirable, first you must try and find any documents that relate to the bike, old log book, tax discs or old MOT certificates. This makes life a lot easier for any purchaser. To gauge the value you will have to do a bit of research, look at the adverts in the magazines that deal with classic British bikes,Old Bike Mart,Classic Bike etc.Another possibilty is to put it on eBay with a reserve price.I might even be interested in buying it myself although my wife seems to think that I have enough Normans already.Cheers Paul

Hello, thanks for your reply.I actually have the original buff log book and a blue V5 document both in my late uncles name.If you or anyone else would like to see some pictures of the bike just let me have your e mail address. I do not think the bike was used for very long,my uncle was the second registered keeper and I am fairly certain that he never used it in competition. When I get a bit more time I may try to get it running, the engine turns over very freely so the only issue I could foresee would be the ignition system.
Thanks,Nigel
